Please understand that the title of this entry is intended to be tongue-in-cheek. To hell with everything. Let's get ugly. (18+ Language)

The American Psychological Association dictionary has the most accurate and concise definition of asociality :  declining to engage, or incapable of engaging, in social interaction ;  lacking sensitivity or regard for social values or norms. And if you know me right now, that pretty much explains how I feel.

I may say a few things that will offend others, but don't take this personally, this isn't about you, it's about me. I was a professional educator of children for over ten years, and I quit for reasons less related to the kids themselves, but more related to the adults around them. And of course, sometimes when I'd make a decision someone didn't agree with, they'd say... "When you have kids..."

I'm sticking with the concept that the words films and movies are interchangeable. 

I am not choosing movies based on how frightening they are, because I am easily put off by realistic gore and it's too simple a task to just disgust me. The movies that mess with one's mind are by far the scariest. Some of these films are to be expected, others will leave you questioning my taste. Prepare yourself for my thesis on "beautiful blood". Do expect spoilers.

I label these movies as overly romantic because cinema has historically been a place for especially white men to express their desire for women, often in a way that propagates really unhealthy dynamics. We know true love in movies is simply that: in movies. But, when women and queer people and people of the global majority are better included in filmmaking, often the films can have a deeper value than simply love and represent meaningful discourse that has yet to be breached. Many of these selections have adult material present so, 18+ only, kiddos.

I am approaching this as a cineaste, not a bibliophile, having never read the book but being aware of the historical impact of the film which vilifies Nurse Mildred Ratched. I recently completed a specialization in writing and editing created by Patrick Barry, a professor in legal writing at the University of Michigan, and I was inspired by the idea of writing a legal document for a fictional film.

Unrelatably enough, I have a Bachelor's Degree in French so I didn't have time to read a lot of English books in college. Later, as a professional, I ended up going hard into extra courses on education and therefore read a lot of educational research. As a person who has always preferred journalism, nonfiction, essays, and poetry, I felt I should properly challenge myself to produce a list of novels / books I enjoy in the fiction and nonfiction realms. So, I am pleased to present you, dear reader, with a list of books I simply enjoy deeply.

When the most manic pixie of dreamboats sweeps you off your feet, you follow, you flit, you fawn, you fly. He'll shower you with gifts, candles, flowers. He'll say you're the most beautiful woman he's loved. He wants to make you aware of his intentions. You put yourself in a situation that elevates and admires their excentricities and you ignore the hints of horror that lie ahead. You fall in love. You don't know yet that he's turning into a monster.
